Among who are you also, who are called to belong to Jesus Christ; to all the beloved of God in Rome, called to be holy.
—Romans 1:6-7
Open your heart, open your mind, and open your soul so that God can work miracles in and through you. We are all called to be saints. We don’t always think of ourselves as holy and believe this quality is reserved for those who hold positions within the church. This, however, is not true. To be holy means spending time with God, learning who He is by reading His Word and meditating on it, forming an intimate relationship with Him, and looking forward to the quiet time alone with Him. You will learn to listen to Him through your heart and become an instrument of God. He will help others through you. By getting to know Jesus, those who meet you can see that you are a Christian because you treat them with respect, talk to them with compassion, and love them unconditionally. You can be a vessel to serve God with these actions: serve Him in your church, in the community, and in your house.
Being holy does not mean that we are perfect and without sin—we are human, and this isn’t possible. That is why Jesus had to be born: to save us. I am sure even the holiest of saints at some point had doubts and acted as humans do. Saints are not gods. They are simply like you and me, wanting to make the world a better place and to help others know the beauty and joy of Christ. So share His kindness with others. Be a friend who encourages and invites others to learn about the true meaning of this season—Jesus.
